At the
age of forty four, Ross D. Jahnig is a graduate of the "School of Visual
Arts" located in New York City. Spending four years he has earned a
Bachelor of Fine Arts degree."Living and working in NYC is like no other
experience any person can have especially as an artist". While attending
school he learned much about painting and the visual arts from professional
artists such as John Button, Jack Potter, Sam Martine, Michael Loeb
and others. I look back at my time in NYC as a foundation on which to
build my artistic career. After graduating school in 1982 Ross returned
to his home town of Rumson on the Jersey Shore. Having been active in
showing work, he is a member of local arts organizations such as the
New Jersey Art Alliance, The Guild of Creative Arts, and The Printmaking
Council of N.J. Enter many competitions and winning many awards.
Ross has also been represented by several local art galleries and art
representatives. As a result he has sold many paintings and prints to
private art collectors. Three of his paintings were bought by Bell
Labs of New Jersey's corporate art collection. Wanting to expand
and gain exposure Ross also has paintings on loan to the "Art in
Embassies Program". Three paintings were put on exhibit at the American
Embassy in Dublin Ireland a country which he was fortunate to have
visited.
Ross has
been involved in printmaking since graduating in 1982, having produced
small editions of hand pulled lithographs and mixed media prints."The
hand pulled print being one of the most difficult art mediums to work
with, I believe that I have found a new way of looking at form and color
by combining different printing methods." Recently Ross has been working
with computer programs to create images for the printing process."I
think that computers will have a great effect on the future of art.
The computer has become a great tool for the artist".
Artist
Statment
I have
always been involved in the Arts. I think that having this gift of being
creative is one of the most important aspects of my life. I like the
idea that something positive can come from the spirit and be made real,
to be shared with others. My idea of good art is art that has a positive
effect on the viewer in a way that makes for a better mood.
