Karon Cook
Karon
Cook is a Houston poet, born and raised in West Texas. She has taught
junior high school math and science, been a counselor at a junior college,
and served as a United Methodist pastor. For five years, she
served as associate pastor in two United Methodist churches in Texas.
Karon was among the juried poets for the 1999 Houston Women's Festival.
and a featured poet for that festival in 2000 and 2001. In April of
2000, her work won the poetry division of the Johnnie Harris Writers
Contest in Houston, Texas.
Currently Karon is a researcher with the Houston Veterans Affairs Center
for Healthy Aging and is assistant professor at Baylor College of Medicine.
Her academic specialty is research design, measurement and methodology.
