Hilmar Thordarson (b. 1960).
Graduated from The Reykjavík 
Conservatory of Music in 1985, with 
a B.A. in Music Theory and 
Composition. He received a Master 
of Fine Arts from California 
Institute of the Arts in 1989, and 
a second Master's in Composition 
from Yale University,1991.
        Mr. Thordarson has had his 
work performed in various Nordic 
Music festivals as well as in 
Central Europe, United States 
and Japan.
        Thordarson frequently makes 
refers to Icelandic history and 
nature in his compositions, e.g. 
"The Big Wrestling of Gunnraud the 
Great" for Trumpet and 
4 Percussionists, and "The Goblins 
from the Lands og Ice" an multi 
media art work with live music, 
Japanese Butoh dance and video.  
The Goblins was premiered in  
Chateauvallon in France in 1994 with 
following performances in Marseille, 
San Francisco and elswhere in 
California.
 Currently Mr. Thordarson is a 
Director of Kopavogur Computer 
Music Cener (KCMC) as well as 
Faculty member at the Reykjavik 
Concervatory of Music.
