Gloria
Burgess is an organizational consultant with Jazz, Inc. and Affiliate
Professor at the University of Washington, where she teaches leadership,
multiculturalism, and creative mastery. Poetry is essential to Dr. Burgessâ
consulting work in which she creates leadership programs to develop
culturally astute leaders. Gloria is a Poetry Fellow with Cave Canem,
a collective of African-American poets. Her poetry has been featured
on NPRâs All Things Considered and a PBS video on social activism
and the arts. Her third book of poetry, The Open Door, was
published in fall 2001. She just completed Pass It On!, a book
for children of all ages about her father's turning-point relationship
with writer William Faulkner.
