Hawaii: USA
Douglas Birge
Native
to New York City, Douglas Birge has spent most of his adult life in
Honolulu, Hawaii, where he migrated in 1972 solely on the inspiration
of a handful of dreams. In the late 'sixties he did volunteer work
for civil rights and peace activities. He has worked the last ten years
as an employee of the State of Hawaii Judiciary. He enjoys mixing
metaphors to create a kind of verbal collage-fantasy, images drawn
from dreams or unusual experiences, as well as intensive impressions
of the environment-to impart chiefly inner events and intuitions. His
interests include comparative religion, mythology, and linguistics.
